PROpt is a national provider for Industrial Physical Capability Services (IPCS) and Injury Reduction Technology (INRTEK).  These companies provide standardized and objective physical capability testing for new hire and injured employees of all job type classifications.  IPCS or INRTEK testing will reduce your overexertion injuries in a safe and feasible manner, simultaneously improving safety performance, significantly reducing workers' compensation costs, and making your work environment safer and more productive.  These isokinetic physical capability pre- or post-job offer evaluations have proven to be effective, reducing the incidence and severity of work-related injuries.  Both IPCS and INRTEK are EEOC and ADA compliant.  All decisions regarding the physical capability of a new hire or return of an injured worker are based on data, which eliminates all subjectiveness with testing.

PROpt performs pre-employment isokinetic testing of all major muscle groups to each job candidate and then these results are sent to either IPCS or INRTEK to be analyzed.  Information that is gathered from each test is evaluated and a statistical formula is generated.  This results in an objective rating that reflects the strength capability of the worker in the context of the strength requirement of the job.  The employer can then compare the potential employees’ scores to the standardized test scores of others nationwide that performed the same type of job.  These results can then be used to match the physical capability of the worker to the physical demands of the job.

IPCS program results:

·         Recent analysis for a large food distributor showed a return investment of $35.00 saved for every $1.00 spent on IPCS testing.  The return on investment was realized by a substantial reduction in both incidence and severity rates of injuries to knees, shoulders, and backs.

·         Data presented at the American College of Sports Medicine meeting in June of 2000 showed a 14 fold decrease in overexertion injuries to the knees, shoulders, and back in a study of drivers and dockworkers using IPCS testing.

INRTEK program results:

·         Reduces workers compensation cost by up to 65%.

·         Eliminates employee injuries by 80% and keeps 95% of employees injury free.

·         INRTEK tested over 1900 applicants over a seven-month period for a major US airline and resulted in an injury rate for the screened group of only 1.1 to 100 as compared to a historical incidence of 14 to 100.  In seven months the program had a net savings of $1 million in claim costs alone.

IMPACC

PROpt is part of a network of IMPACC Prevention Providers Network working together to serve corporations nationwide to reduce worker compensation costs and minimize lost workdays.  IMPACC is a unique work injury claims prevention system developed by a group of physical therapists working in over 400 workplaces across the country since 1983.  IMPACC is a nationally recognized authority on ergonomics and work injury claims prevention.  This is a well-defined, structured program that is readily adaptable to any work place.

IMPACC relies on the expertise of medical professionals to consider workplace design and ergonomics, but also encourages the worker to take responsibility for using their body properly with their job.  Further, workplace attitudes and politics that can greatly increase worker compensation claims are addressed through this program. Dramatic reductions in lost workdays and worker compensation costs will be achieved after implementation of the IMPACC program.

The IMPACC program addresses musculoskeletal cumulative trauma disorders that include:  tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, rotator cuff problems, and neck/back pain.  Theses disorders represent an exploding epidemic of worker compensation claims.

The IMPACC program has a consistent track record of reducing injuries, claims, and costs by up to 70% in the 12 – 24 month period following program implementation.  Our program does not simply seek to prevent injuries, but also addresses worker compensation claims, and worker compensation costs.  We look beyond ergonomics and safety to address politics and attitudes.  We seek out and address the things that can cause injuries.  These include poor job design and poor work habits.  We then seek out and address issues that can increase worker compensation claims, such as employee-employer relation issues that may encourage frivolous claims.  Finally, we address issues that can inflate your claims, such as improper medical management, improper injury response policies, return-to-work policies, and hostile attitudes toward injured workers that force those workers to hire attorneys and resist recovery.  Addressing these attitudes is the key to IMPACC’s success for many companies.
